Brock Lesnar isn’t under WWE contract but could feature at SummerSlam PPV
Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer has brought an update on the contract situation of former WWE champion Brock Lesnar.
The Beast Incarnate has not been seen on WWE since WrestleMania 36 when he lost the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre. So, it has been well over a year since Lesnar was last seen on the screen, leading to questions over his return to WWE.
Shortly after dropping his title, reports emerged that Lesnar was out of contract with the company. However, rumours of a potential comeback keep doing the rounds on a constant basis ahead of every major PPV.
Meltzer provides contract update on Brock Lesnar
During the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer’s Radio, Meltzer was asked about Lesnar’s situation and whether a return was on the cards for the SummerSlam PPV.
He confirmed that the Beast Incarnate is not under a contract with WWE at the moment but did not rule out the possibility of a comeback at SummerSlam. (h/t Ringside News)
“I have not heard [about SummerSlam] I would have thought he would be at WrestleMania, but he’s not under contract… he is not going to AEW, I mean, he’s just not. I suppose it’s possible [SummerSlam], but I have not heard any whispers in that direction.”
Lesnar has been pretty much on a part-time schedule ever since he returned to WWE on 2012. Billed as one of the biggest superstars of the company, it is only natural for Vince McMahon & co. to wait for fans being present in arenas to pop for his return.
It is very unlikely that the company would want to waste the return of such huge magnitude in front of the ThunderDome screens. If he does return, expect Lesnar to be directly reinserted into the title pictures.
