Did Brock Lesnar returning at SummerSlam have something to do with AEW?
Brock Lesnar’s sudden return to WWE after a long absence sent the fans into a frenzy at SummerSlam. But did it have anything to do with AEW?
AEW recently brought back CM Punk after his absence from professional wrestling for about 7 years. They have also reportedly signed former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan who currently awaits his debut under the promotion.
While speaking to Wrestling Inc. former WWE superstar Kurt Angle was asked whether Brock’s return diverted the attention back to WWE. As AEW stole the buzz after bringing in CM Punk. This is what he had to say:
“Anytime you bring in Brock Lesnar it’s a huge deal. So, yes, it definitely took away from some of the buzz that was created when CM Punk, and possibly Daniel Bryan joined AEW. But, you know, those, they’re both big names too and I think that WWE did enough damage control by bringing Brock Lesnar in that I don’t think it will affect them that much. But, you know, they did lose Daniel Bryan possibly and CM Punk. I guess he was never going to go back to WWE, so it didn’t matter with that.”
Was Brock Lesnar returning at SummerSlam a move to take the buzz away from AEW?
WWE fail to recognise any other promotion as their competitor in the business. But they have realise that a lot of buzz and attention was stolen from them. When AEW announced the arrival of CM Punk and possibly Daniel Bryan, WWE had to do something in order to calm the situation and they did exactly that.
It is reported that the plan to involve Brock Lesnar was made at the last second. In order to make everyone forget about what was recently happening in AEW and bring back the buzz to WWE. Whether the reason to bring back Brock was only to distract the hype or it was something else, Its definitely a treat for the fans
