Johnny Gargano could have injured his neck in a horrible botch on NXT
Johnny Gargano booked his place for the NXT North American title Ladder match at TakeOver XXX. However, things could have been extremely different for the former NXT Champion.
Gargano faced off against rising star Ridge Holland in a qualifying match. While Gargano got the win in the end, a slam from Holland went horribly wrong.
As Holland went to plant Gargano, he was also in the air a bit and couldn’t spin his rival properly.
Instead of landing on his back, Gargano crashed on his neck. Gargano has had a few serious injuries during his time in wrestling, and this could have been a career-ending one.
However, he survived this without any major damage it seems and highlighted just how tough he is to be in this business:
This would not have been the first time a WWE star has picked up a serious injury in the ring. Many have had their careers ended due to such botches and it is a miracle that Gargano is alright.
Bronson Reed is one of Gargano’s rivals for the WWE NXT North American title at TakeOver. The Australian has been at another level in recent weeks and decided to joke about the botch.
He tweeted a GIF from an NBA video game where the players have weird neck animations. That was a shot at Gargano but the Australian is confident of winning gold too.
Reed also played a part in the main event of this week’s NXT. Finn Balor and Velveteen Dream clashed for a spot in the Ladder match and it was Dream who got the win.
Reed, and the other competitors in the Ladder match, came out and had a brawl. It was the Australian that was left standing tall as he claimed this would be the outcome of the TakeOver clash too:
The Ladder match has other top stars such as Damian Priest and Cameron Grimes too. It will be an interesting clash, and hopefully, one of the best matches on the card.
