WWE Raw had many stars paying tribute to the late Brodie Lee but Bully Ray wanted to see a lot more
WWE Raw started off this week with a tribute to Brodie Lee, formerly known as Luke Harper, who passed away due to a lung issue.
While Lee was on AEW since 2020, he made a name for himself as part of the Wyatt Family in WWE. Lee was a former Intercontinental Champion in WWE and his loss came as a shock to many. He was just 41 when he passed away and was loved by almost everyone that met him.
AEW and WWE stars have been sharing some great stories of Lee over the past few days and the likes of Drew McIntyre, Xavier Woods, Alexa Bliss and Ricochet all paid tribute to Lee during the show.
WWE has, however, come in for criticism as some felt they didn’t do enough to respect Lee. The opening card was an expected gesture but Lee spent a long time with the promotion and many claimed they could have done a 10-bell salute before the start of the show.
Bully Ray and Dave LaGreca were on the Busted Open podcast and shared their views too. While the pair did not criticise or take a dig at WWE for their Lee tribute, both believed they could have done more.
LaGreca and Ray spoke about a video tribute while Ray explained why a 10-bell salute would have been great:
“The reason why I think the 10-bell salute would be appropriate, maybe not so much for Jon Huber, but for the boys.
“I think the boys would have appreciated that going out there because he was so widely admired and loved by that locker room.”
Something special for Lee
Ray did bring up the special bits done by many of the stars to pay tribute to Lee, and claimed they could have been given a better way to do that.
The Busted Open pair added that Harper was name known better than Lee and brought up how AEW was going to do a special show on Dynamite where all the matches were a tribute to Lee and they even got the fallen star’s family involved in booking stuff.
Ray added that he would have liked to see something different on Raw. He was OK with the 10 bell salute not being in place but wanted the stars to be present in the ring before the show so that they could pay their respects to Lee.
“Vince [McMahon] and H [Triple H], they don’t need to be out for this. This would have been for the boys and Luke Harper.
“Could you imagine all the boys standing on stage and Xavier Woods just standing there and going ‘1, 2, 3’. And the entire roster going ‘It’s Monday Night, you know what that means, yeah, yeah yeah’.
“And then go to your opening video package. Can you imagine every body saying his line together?
“That would have been a feel good moment, I think he would have liked.”
Ray claimed that it would have been a special bit for the individual and his friends in the business would have liked it too.
