Rhea Ripley has had a blazing start on WWE RAW recently but she doesn’t look too comfortable
It has all gone very smoothly for Rhea Ripley at WWE in the past few months. The former NXT superstar has been fast-tracked to stardom recently.
She won the RAW women’s championship from Asuka at WrestleMania 37. That is a historic moment for any 24-year-old.
Moreover, it seems like the company would not let her lose the title very soon. Instead, a rivalry with Charlotte Flair has slowly emerged.
Things reached boiling point on this week’s RAW when Ripley interfered a match between Flair and Asuka to distract the former and hand a win to the latter.
Charlotte then unloaded on the referee and was suspended. So it seems like the Australian is already in a rivalry with one of the greatest female pro wrestlers ever.
But to Bully Ray, all of this seems to be happening a little too fast. On the latest episode of the Busted Open podcast, he addressed his concerns of Rhea Ripley taking the Keith Lee route.
He says that Ripley does not look comfortable just yet and attributes it to the overwhelming task of being on the main roster.
“She doesn’t look comfortable just standing there. When she came out during Charlotte and Asuka’s promo, even with the Championship, the way she had it on her shoulder didn’t look right. And later on when she was walking around with the Championship slumped over her shoulder, she didn’t look right. She looks like a dear in the headlights right now. It’s probably that main roster ‘900 people in your ear’, you don’t know who to listen to…”
He went on to add how Ripley is unsure of herself now and that it resembles the problem that Lee had during his first year on the main roster where he believed Vince McMahon was unimpressed with the former NXT star.
“…you now have a talent who is unsure of themselves. I saw it with Keith Lee, and I’m seeing the exact same thing with Rhea Ripley. You have to understand, the things that I see, you might not be able to see. It’s a look in a talent’s eye. You can see the confidence level, or you can see the lack of confidence.”
And he says Ripley has that look which conveys the latter. It seems like they’re being too harsh on a rookie who is not even 25 yet. But the jury is still out on Ripley and the next few months will be telling for her career.
