AEW star Eddie Kingston was blasted by Bully Ray for his recent comments
After having monopolized the pro-wrestling scene for decades and decades, WWE have been facing stiff challenged from All-Elite Wrestling (AEW) over the past few years.
The promotion owned by Fulham FC owner Tony Khan has grown in leaps and bounds over the past few years. AEW currently houses a plethora of stars, a lot from the WWE as well.
In the wake of this, AEW star Eddie Kingston ripped apart the WWE after the recent episode of AEW Dynamite went off the air.
Kingston had claimed that AEW was a promotion that loved competitive wrestling, listened to its fanbase and always respected its legends, unlike the WWE.
These comments didn’t sit well with WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray. Despite acknowledging the respect he had for Kingston, Ray later asked the AEW star to stay in his own lane.
Ray said on Tuesday’s episode of Busted Open Radio:
“I love Eddie Kingston to death. If we were having promo wars and I was the captain of the team, and somebody says, ‘you get to pick one person to do the promo for you,’ I’d most likely pick Eddie – because of his believability, tone, inflection and everything about him.” [via Wreslting Inc]
Kingston has been in the wrestling scene since 2002. He has been a part of various promotions like Impact Wrestling, Ring of Honor and AEW.
Bully Ray went in hard on Kingston. He wasn’t particularly happy about a guy speaking high about his own promotion.
Ray was quoted as saying:
“But in this case, Eddie needs to shut the f–k up and stay in his lane. And his lane is [of] an AEW guy speaking about AEW, and flying the flag for AEW. Then, I’m completely onboard. Tell me how great AEW is, fly the flag for your company, show me that you wear your heart on your sleeve.”
