Bianca Belair won the 2021 women’s Royal Rumble and delivered an emotional speech
This year’s women’s Royal Rumble saw a number of surprise entrants, great performances, and WWE NXT stars being called up.
This isn’t new as some NXT stars have appeared in the past, however, one star who shone brightest.
It was Bianca Belair who created the headlines. Coming in at #3, she went all the way to win the Rumble and earn her shot at a title at WrestleMania 37.
In what was a resilient performance, she broke the record of the most amount of time spent inside the ring in a women’s Royal Rumble match.
Things, however, got a little emotional after the fight. She broke into tears and reeled it all in until she possibly could. While many found this touching, Bully Ray was not pleased.
Bully Ray not a fan of Bianca Belair crying at Royal Rumble 2021
Speaking on this week’s episode of the Busted Open podcast, the former WWE wrestler suggested that it was something that he personally does not like to see.
“I don’t know if I want to see my superstars cry at this stage of the game.”
He then argued with Dave LaGreca, who suggested that WWE shifted her character on SmackDown because they could carry over her persona of the “EST of NXT”. Ray suggested that the timing of the crying was a bit off.
“The crying could have happened in the back. We could have got that for social media; I want to see the Bianca Belair, who won the Rumble, cut that promo. Once she starts crying and coming out of that EST character, you just showed your hand.”
He adds that he wanted a strong promo from her, something that was true to her character on NXT.
“I wanted a passionate promo from a woman who busted her ass and is now going to the main event of WrestleMania… I want that confident EST woman pointing at that sign.”
The EST of WWE is one of the best talents in the business and she has been pushed a lot since she moved to SmackDown.
Belair is now rumoured to challenge Sasha Banks for the SmackDown women’s championship, which should be an incredible battle.
