Candy Cartwright dismisses multi-million dollar lawsuit against Matt Riddle
Female wrestler Candy Cartwright (real name Samantha Tavel) has dropped the lawsuit filed against WWE Superstar Matt Riddle.
Cartwright’s attorney, John Chwarzynski, gave a statement saying, “The parties have put this in their past and are focused on the future.” (h/t Wrestling Inc)
She filed to sue each party for $10 million for various damages, emotional distress, attorney’s fees, and court costs. The parties included WWE, EVOLVE and Gabe Sapolsky. The long-standing lawsuit was filed back in late 2020 and went on for more than 10 months.
Riddle, meanwhile, joined WWE in 2018 and has been one of the rising stars in the company. He is scheduled to be part of the Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match on Sunday. He also forms one-half of the tag team RK-Bro with Randy Orton on RAW.
Cartwright is no more an active professional wrestler and has been battling this case for a long while now. Both parties produced statements on social media, with Riddle explaining his side on social media.
What happened between Matt Riddle and Candy Cartwright?
According to her tweets from June 2020, Cartwright said Riddle and others were traveling in a van in May 2018. She alleged that Riddle had asked her to have sex with him. Upon her refusal she added, Riddle allegedly “grabbed me by my throat, choked me” and forced her to perform oral sex.
Riddle addressed the situation in July 2020 and admitted to have cheated on his wife with Cartwright. He denied any allegations of harassment and abuse and believes that Cartwright was seeking revenge after he ended their relationship.
“I have never, in my entire life, sexually assaulted a man, woman or anybody,” he said. (h/t TMZ)
Riddle has denied all claims and added that his family was stalked after the incident by a member of Cartwright’s team.
With everything finally put to bed, this chapter is finally closed and Riddle can continue his performances in WWE.
