Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura got the better of the New Day on SmackDown

The main event of this week’s WWE SmackDown saw Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura team up to face the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The New Day.

Big E and Kofi Kingston were the two participants for the champions as Xavier Woods recovers from an injury.

Cesaro and Nakamura have been problematic for the champions and got the better of the pair this week too.

While the match descended into chaos, Nakamura and Cesaro put both members of the New Day through a table.

The match was for the tag team titles but it ended in a no-contest before the table was used. The challengers stood tall with the belts in their hands as they sent a message to the New Day.

This has been a great comeback from Nakamura and Cesaro after Sami Zayn was kept away from television.

The Artist Collective got the last laugh in all this and Cesaro put in a brilliant quip too:

Setting up for Extreme Rules?

This should see the Artist Collective face off against the New Day at Extreme Rules for the tag titles. E and Kingston seem to have met their match and the clash could see a stipulation too. Instead of a regular tag match, Extreme Rules should see something special amongst the four competitors.

A table match would be perfect and with Nakamura and Cesaro bringing it out, WWE might be hinting towards that.

Extreme Rules still has a week or so to go and this clash hasn’t been made official. However, it makes sense for the New Day to defend their titles in a table match and we should see this cleared up by next week.

Extreme Rules already has some big matches and hopefully, we see a tag title match too.
