Edge created history by winning the 2021 Royal Rumble but Chael Sonnen wasn’t all that impressed
The 2021 Royal Rumble was a great PPV with Edge and Bianca Belair winning the men’s and women’s matches.
The Belair victory was one of the great stories from the show as she came in at No.3 and survived it all to go to WrestleMania.
That win was greeted well by many but the main course was seeing the men’s Rumble. Edge and Randy Orton entered as the first pair of stars and they put on a show. While Edge was able to get the win, even avoiding a smart move by Orton, it didn’t seem to impress Chael Sonnen.
The UFC legend claimed that Edge looked extremely aged and took a shot at the former WWE champion.
This was Edge’s second Royal Rumble win and it came exactly 11 years after his first one. While many MMA stars such as Matt Riddle and Shayna Baszler have become big names in WWE, Sonnen called it garbage and didn’t want anything to do with the business.
Sonnen is known to be a bit of a talker and his show on YouTube does see him openly speak. However, this comment regarding Edge didn’t go down well with many.
Chael Sonnen blasted for comments on Edge
This isn’t the first time Sonnen has attacked a top star. He did that to Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney a while back too and that didn’t sit well with many.
Edge is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and his recovery story from a serious neck injury has certainly gotten a lot of attention from the wrestling fans.
Edge’s return at the 2020 Royal Rumble was also one of the big talking points. However, him starting the match and then winning the Rumble is a huge achievement.
The Canadian will now headline WrestleMania and that is another great feat. Sonnen, for his part, was slated by many from social media as he attacked the Rated-R Superstar’s Rumble moment.
