Chris Jericho reveals rift with Vince McMahon and Triple H before leaving WWE
AEW star Chris Jericho has revealed his last meeting with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and legend Triple H before moving to Tony Khan’s AEW.
Jericho is a legend in the wrestling business and has spent the majority of his career in WWE having made his debut in 1990.
Jericho speaks on the Wrestling Observer Radio, saying: (h/t Ringside News)
“Suddenly, it becomes a reality when the show in Chicago happened and then suddenly it’s full bore and we began talking and I said, ‘well, I’ll go talk to Vince and see what he says’ and it was Triple H who was supposed to talk with me.”
“I talked to Vince and Vince only and then, Triple H kind of jobbed me out by not calling me back when he said he would, and I don’t play games like that, so I was like ‘forget it, I’ll just talk to Vince or no one else’ – and then, Vince never really called me either.”
Jericho is the first ever AEW World Champion after his big move to the new rival promotion. He has since then fought in various feuds including forming the Inner Circle.
According to Jericho, it was McMahon who said it would be a good move if Jericho left WWE to join the newfound company in Jacksonville. He also talks about being direct with the Chairman and speaking his mind to him.
Jericho has spent almost 30 years in wrestling and was a fan’s favourite in WWE. The news comes as a shock as McMahon has had a longstanding relationship with the WWE former World Heavyweight Champion.
He has been doing splendidly well and has also got former Superstars from WWE to join the company including Mark Henry, Miro and Big Show. Jericho also hosts his podcast ‘Talk is Jericho’ which features stars from the wrestling industry and has been in the works for the publication of a book about his career.
