Former WWE champion Drew McIntyre has another fan in ex-WWE star
Drew McIntyre has come a long way since he was released from his WWE contract back in June 2014. He revealed the personal stress that he was going through during that time.
But he has made a triumphant rise from that. McIntyre was re-instated in WWE in April 2017. He appeared on NXT then and worked his way up to the main roster again.
He then went on to have the biggest moment of his pro wrestling career last year at WrestleMania 36.
‘The Chosen One’, albeit in an empty arena due to the Covid-19 regulations, beat Brock Lesnar to lay claim to the WWE heavyweight championship.
And he has never looked back since. What’s inspiring about his comeback is that he earned whatever he has today in WWE, and nothing has been handed to him on a silver platter.
Chris Masters says he always knew Drew McIntyre would make it in WWE
Praising this earlier in the week was former WWE star, Christ Masters. The pioneer of the ‘Master Lock’ was with Chris Van Vilet on the Insight podcast.
Drew and Masters, of course, met each other inside the ring as early as 2011 and as late as January 2017 at 5 Star Wrestling Championship. And he revealed how he always saw the Scotsman’s elite abilities even when others ignored it.
“I’ve always known Drew’s ability. Like, I had some of the best matches of my career back in 2011. This was when he wasn’t being pushed or anything. I just saw the talent he had and the ability he had. So, I liked seeing those two guys [Drew and Bobby Lashley] going at it at WrestleMania and all that.”
McIntyre was tipped to win back his WWE championship at WrestleMania 37 against Bobby Lashley. But it was not to be, as Lashley retained the belt courtesy of the Hurt Lock.
It remains to be seen if McIntyre still remains in the picture and actually does get his hands on the belt again. But Lashley looks immovable at the moment.
