CM Punk teased a return to pro-wrestling with Batman comic cover
It has been over seven years since CM Punk stepped inside a pro-wrestling ring. The 42-year old who was an integral part of the WWE, left the promotion in a rather bitter manner.
He then became a mixed martial artist and made his UFC debut in 2016. However, he was nowhere close to being successful in MMA, finishing with a record of 2 fights – 1 loss and 1 no-contest (initially a loss).
Since retiring from MMA, Punk has been a commentator for Cage Fury Fighting Championships.
Over the past few months, rumors of Punk making a return to pro-wrestling have been rife. AEW has been speculated to be his rumoured destination.
Many believe, Punk might be making his debut at AEW The First Dance, which is set to take place on the 20th of August at United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
CM Punk recently took to Instagram stories posting a GIF of The Dark Knight Returns – a 1986 comic book written and illustrated by Frank Miller. He also coupled it with Queen’s hit song Don’t Stop Me Now.
Both these elements are suggestive of a CM Punk return to pro-wrestling, which in this case is the AEW.
AEW The First Dance is set to be the first televised event in the United Center since 2000. It features a tag team championship eliminator match between the Private Party and the Jurassic Express.
Jon Moxley too features in a singles match against Daniel Garcia.
