CM Punk names the WWE and AEW star that are the “biggest” matches for him

Speaking to Uproxx, CM Punk has named WWE Hall of Famer Triple H and current AEW World Champion Kenny Omega would be his two biggest matches if he decided to make a return to wrestling.

Punk, real life Phil Brooks, called it quits on WWE back in 2014 under acrimonious circumstances. A return to in-ring career has been teased at times but as of yet, he is yet to make a comeback.

Instead, CM Punk seems to be transitioning into a movie career, with the former Straight Edge Superstar set to appear in Jakob’s Wife which hits theaters later this month.

Punk was interviewing with Uproxx Sports while promoting the movie and talk of a potential return to wrestling came up.

Punk open to return at the right time, for the right money

Punk revealed that while any creative decision wouldn’t be in his hands, he would be open to getting back into the pro-wrestling word if the right time came along.

“I think the right combination could maybe be figured out, but it’s also not for me to figure out. It’s not my world anymore. It’s just gotta be the right time, right place, right situation.”

Kenny Omega is the current AEW World champion

When asked as to who he would prefer to face if he did decide to return, Punk claimed that a match against AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and WWE’s Triple H would be the biggest matches for him, even if he didn’t exactly want to be in the latter.

“What’s the biggest possible match for CM Punk? I think there’s Kenny Omega on the one side. And, you know, unfortunately, ironically enough, for me to go back to WWE, who’s the biggest match for me? It’s probably Triple H. That’s ironic because it’s nothing I’m interested in. It’s just what it is.”

This comes days after Triple H revealed that he had held talks with CM Punk over a return. While the duo isn’t exactly a fan of one another, Punk would be open to working a programme with him. Obviously, it will need a big, fat cheque from WWE to make that happen.
