Carmella is to battle WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair on next week’s show

WWE had to deal with some horrible injury news as Bayley was ruled out for nine months. The Role Model picked up the injury in training with reports suggesting she had done her ACL.

While Bayley addressed her fans after the injury news, this also put a spanner in the works for Money in the Bank.

Carmella and Bianca Belair in action on SmackDown (WWE)

Bayley was to challenge Bianca Belair, the SmackDown Women’s champion, at Money in the Bank. However, that match had to be called off. Many expected a new rival for Belair at the PPV but Sonya Deville decided to mix things up.

She confirmed that Carmella was to face Belair for the title next week on SmackDown. This would take place before Money in the Bank but Mella was another participant in the MITB match.

Her place was now taken over by Liv Morgan but Corey Graves seems confident the gold is coming home.

Carmella to dethrone Bianca Belair next week?

Graves, who is the partner of Carmella, believed his better half was going to become the champion.

Mella is a former champ and has been incredible since her return to WWE. She has been given a makeover of sorts and is playing her character really well.

Graves claimed he dusted the trophy shelf in their office, and it was ready for the SmackDown title to take up a spot.

It will be interesting to see if a title change does take place before Money in the Bank. Carmella could use some of her street smarts to dethrone Belair and a rematch could happen at Money in the Bank.

WWE have more than a week to get a storyline brewing. Mella and Belair have clashed in the past and it will be interesting to see how this match goes on Friday.
