Here is everything about Corey Graves injury and WWE in-ring return after missing 7 years
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, WWE announcer, Corey Graves has been medically cleared to wrestle again. Graves hasn’t wrestled in an official match since March 2014.
Taking to Twitter, Sapp wrote:
“Corey Graves has been cleared after seven years out of the ring, Fightful Select has learned”
However, it was announced later that he was retiring because of issues stemming from the concussions he had suffered throughout his in-ring career. The timing of his retirement made him unable to enjoy NXT’s rise as a member of the active roster.
He became a popular member in the announce booth and became one of the brand’s signature voices. His work even got him a promotion to the Raw commentary team in 2016. He even worked on SmackDown before becoming a permanent fixture on Raw earlier this year.
He recently took to Twitter, showed his desire to wrestle again, and made his considerable presence.
“I kinda wanna wrestle again.”
“I was put on this earth to do something. What I’m doing is not it.”
WWE Superstars Edge and former stars Bryan Danielson and Christian Cage returned after career-ending injuries. However, as with Graves, concussions’ history was a significant factor in them walking out.
But these comebacks have indeed lifted the spirits of Graves to make his return to in-ring action. Many fans are still unfamiliar with Graves work in the squared circle as most of them know him as an announcer.
Graves could return to the new NXT 2.0 as a part of transformation or feature on the mid-card for Raw or SmackDown. It will be interesting to see how Graves makes his return, as we all know he has worked hard in the independent circuit.
