WWE brought out the Great American Bash in 2020 to rival AEW’s Fyter Fest
WWE worked quickly to scramble out a Great American Bash card to rival AEW’s Fyter Fest.
AEW decided to show their PPV Fyter Fest over two days as the Covid-19 situation cancelled plans of hosting it in the UK.
WWE, until recently, didn’t have something to rival it. However, they announced the Great American Bash for the two days of Fyter Fest.
Interestingly, both events will be held on Wednesday in place of NXT and Dynamite. While there are some incredible clashes on the first day of the Bash, Corey Graves had a surprise pick as the match of the summer.
The WWE commentator is known to share his thoughts on social media and did the same with the upcoming Bash.
He suggested that Oney Lorcan vs Timothy Thatcher would be one of the sleeper hits of the summer:
Lorcan and Thatcher have been in a bit of a rivalry recently, and Thatcher did impress after destroying Matt Riddle on NXT too.
WWE might have taken a shot at AEW’s Cody Rhodes by bringing up the Great American Bash, which was a creation of Cody’s father.
Nevertheless, the first day has some incredible matches apart from Lorcan vs Thatcher. Roderick Strong vs Dexter Lumis should be a brilliant fight and this has the stipulation of being a strap match.
Rhea Ripley is in a handicap clash against Robert Stone and Aliyah. Should Ripley lose, she would have to join the Robert Stone brand.
However, the main event should see NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai take on Sasha Banks. Shirai has been great since picking up the title while Banks wants to add another belt as she is the current Women’s tag champion too.
It is a little surprising why this match doesn’t have the NXT title on the line. However, Banks will battle Asuka for the Raw Women’s title at Extreme Rules, and we could have a new champion then.
