It has been almost two months since Dana Brooke announced her engagement to Bare Knuckle FC fighter Ulysses Diaz.

Brooke and Diaz who are currently in important phases in their respective careers, took to Instagram to announce the same.

However, had it not been for one particular man, the pair wouldn’t have even met.

In a recent exclusive interview with the Schmo, in his Schmozone podcast, Brooke and her partner Diaz appeared and shared how they first met.

Much to the Schmo and co-host Helen Yee’s surprise, Brooke revealed that it was former UFC middleweight and current Bellator star Yoel Romero who played the role of the matchmaker.

She went on to state that she met Diaz through Romero, with whom she has been a friend for many years.

Since, Romero was training Diaz for an MMA fight, that time, Brooke first caught a glimpse of her future partner on FaceTime (through Romero’s call).

Brooke was quoted as saying:

Brooke then explained the way she got to first meet Diaz on FaceTime. Although, Brooke revealed that she found him scary when she first caught sight, she also said that there was some connection she felt with him.

Here is what Brooke had to say:

“We go to the restaurant…I am waiting…I call Yoel…This is the first time in years like I had little butterfies because he put Uly on the phone. I see Uly on FaceTime and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, he’s scary looking, like who’s this guy?’ But, at the same time I was like, ‘Oh he’s sexy and has this like something special.’ I felt it immediately.”

It is worth noting that, Diaz has the record for the fastest-ever knockout in combat sports history. He knocked out Donelei Benedetto at BKFC 14: Palomino vs Alers in just three seconds!
