Daniel Bryan is reportedly out of contract at WWE after loss to Roman Reigns

The 30th April episode of WWE SmackDown saw Roman Reigns face Daniel Bryan in a career vs title match.

The conditions of the fight were simple. If ‘The Tribal Chief’ lost, he would surrender his title to the Leader of the ‘Yes!’ Movement.

And if Bryan lost, then he would be banished from SmackDown. This led to rumours of WWE preparing for Bryan’s exit, something that he himself desires considering his age.

He made that point speaking to TV Line (h/t WrestlingInc) just before his match against Reigns and also revealed that his contract was not going to expire this September.

“It’s funny that people gravitate towards the date ‘September,’ and I think it’s because that’s when my last contract ended, but it doesn’t end in September.”

Report reveals Daniel Bryan’s contract at WWE has expired

According to Fightful Select (h/t WrestlingInc), ‘high-level sources’ said that Bryan saw out his WWE contract last week, or was at least scheduled to see it out last week.

This report makes more sense if we take into account the fact that Bryan said that it would expire in a month other than September. This, of course, is not a confirmation of him leaving.

At least that’s where the situation stands as of now as he was added to the WWE alumni roster after he lost to ‘The Big Dog’.

Bryan has given a lot of quality years to pro wrestling. In this time, he has won the biggest titles and achieved everything that he would have dreamt to achieve.

So, maybe it’s time for the American to take it slow and work as an independent contractor, an idea which Bryan is not opposed to at all.

“One of the coolest things about wrestling, and just be being an independent contractor in general, is that you can say, ‘Well, I really only want to do this amount of work.’ What that amount of work is, I have no idea yet. I still have to figure it out.”
