Rumours have been flying around the corner that Roderick Strong could be coming to the end of his WWE contract. However, a backstage update has confirmed that he had re-signed with the company earlier this year.
Strong is a part of the Diamond Mine faction alongside the Creed Brothers, Ivy Nile and Hachiman. He was previously part of the table name The Undisputed Era.
Backstage reports from Sean Ross Sapp have confirmed that Strong signed a new contract with WWE. The news was cleared following the rumours regarding the future of Strong with the company.
“For those asking, Roderick Strong re-signed with WWE earlier this year”
Strong is the WWE Cruiserweight Champion and is also the unofficial leader of the Diamond Mine faction. He is a top star in NXT, and it looks like he is not going anywhere soon.
WWE attempts to bring the brand in line with their more youth-oriented style, several more experienced wrestlers have been let go. The company would prefer to develop grooming athletes as WWE stars.
Strong is one of the veteran names that many fans thought would depart the company soon, but that’s not the case as he has already re-signed with the company.
The contract terms have not been named yet, but the company did offer Gargano and O’Reilly multi-year deals. Strong successfully defended his WWE Cruiserweight Championship title at WarGames.
He took on Joe Gacy and successfully defended his title. Both men fought neck to neck battles, but he retained his title after defeating Gacy with The End of Heartache. Strong still has a long way to go as he sites his eye on the more notable titles.
