Dolph Ziggler and John Cena occasionally fought together as a team back in the mid-2010s
One of the longest standing wrestlers in the WWE roster, Dolph Ziggler and the face of modern WWE, John Cena were occasionally tag-team mates during the mid-2010s, but also feuded with each other in the same period.
In 2015, WWE Network scheduled a specials title WWE: The Beast in the East. It was held on the 4th of July in Tokyo, Japan. The event was originally supposed to be a house event.
The main event was set to be a tag team fight between the then United States Champion John Cena and Dolph Ziggler vs. Kane and King Barrett.
Kane and Barrett dominated almost the entire fight. However, Cena and Ziggler ended up winning the fight after Ziggler hit Barrett with a superkick before Cena pinned Kane with an Attitude Adjustment.
WWE recently posted a throwback photo from the match after the recent completion of the fight’s 6th year anniversary.
The photo showed Kane choking Cena with his massive arms. Ziggler took to Twitter to react to the same. While Ziggler did appreciate everything about the photo, he didn’t particularly like himself teaming up with Cena.
Ziggler wrote:
“Couple things… * I love how this was shot * @WWERobinson was extra great here * You can see me cheering for Cena (barf) * Cena, Kane & Wade are all so good.”
He then followed it up with a picture from the same match, which showed a victorious Cena and himself celebrating their win. Ziggler captioned it with several ‘puke emojis’.
