Dolph Ziggler is the current NXT Champion. He won the title at NXT Roadblock from the promising Bron Breakker earlier this month.
Fans were left surprised when the former two-time World Heavyweight champion went to WWE’s developmental brand – NXT. They didn’t know that in a few weeks they would receive a bigger surprise as Ziggler ended up taking the Title from Breakker. Usually, when veterans clash with promising upstarts, they lose to give the new face a big push and put them over among the fans. This case was different though. An established superstar from the main roster went to NXT and won the title from one of the most talented wrestlers on the brand.
Appearing as a special guest on the After The Bell podcast, Ziggler told Corey Graves that he didn’t plan on becoming the NXT champion. However, the Show Off also mentioned that he is very happy to be in a feud with Breakker leading to WrestleMania 38.
“It’s crazy. I’m blown away. I did not plan on this. I am very happy to be in this moment with Breakker who’s got 20 matches under his belt but somehow can go.”
Ziggler also drew similarities between Breakker and the Hall of Famer Goldberg and went on to say that the former NXT champion hits harder.
“He has this insane speed and power that… I’ve been speared by Goldberg and it’s knocked the wind out of me. Put me down. And I’m like ‘Good God’ this kid hits harder. I’m not even making that up. Like, that spear put me down. He’s got that in their prime of their career linebacker closing speed and just for everything. Not just for the spear. For every movement.”
Dolph Ziggler hopes the rematch against Bron Breakker will steal the show
Bron Breakker will get his rematch against Dolph Ziggler for the NXT Championship at the upcoming Stand & Deliver event.
NXT Stand & Deliver will take place just hours before the first night of WrestleMania 38. The event will be held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Ziggler expects his match against Breakker to be so good that people admit that they have stolen the show. A confident Ziggler said he hopes that WrestleMania could catch up.
“This match with Breakker, kind of kicks off the weekend. I want everybody to go, ‘Holy **** that stole the show. I hope WrestleMania can catch up.”
This week on NXT 2.0, Breakker competed against Ziggler’s tag team partner Robert Roode in a singles match. Breakker beat the veteran and the match was praised by many.
Bully Ray, lauded Roode after the match as he tweeted:
“Bobby Roode is so much better than many give him credit for being. #WWENXT“
Fans have been enjoying this feud between Bron Breakker and Dolph Ziggler.
