WWE star Dominik Mysterio thought he might have to stay with Eddie Guerrero after SummerSlam
Dominik Mysterio has finally revealed his thoughts regarding the 2005 storyline between his father Rey Mysterio’s feud with Eddie Guerrero, which revolved around the custody of Dominik, which led to a ladder match at SummerSlam 2005.
Mysterio said that it was pretty crazy for him being a kid and on the TV but chucklingly mentioned that the fun part was missing school. The 24-year-old then spoke about how he started to believe in storylines to such a point that he thought he would be going home with Guerrero.
Dominik even said that all his teachers and schoolmates would be curious about his home life because they didn’t know who Dominik’s dad was. He also mentioned the fact that after the storyline ended, Eddie gave a gift to him.
While talking to the Out of Character Podcast with Ryan Satin (h/t Wrestling Inc.) Dominik revealed his experience during the 2005 SummerSlam storyline that included him as an eight-year-old, where the winner would get custody of him.
Mysterio mentioned his dad Rey pitching him the storyline, and he was entirely on board with that. Then Dominik said that how he started thinking about the consequences of his father losing the match.
“I don’t think I thought about it but I thought I would eventually go home with Eddie if he won,” Dominik said. “I genuinely thought I’d probably end up going home with him because I remember them telling me they wanted to do this storyline and my dad pitched it to me and I was all on board with it but I remember asking after like what’s going to happen afterwards. I remember thinking as a kid like what if my dad doesn’t win and I have to go home with Eddie? I never actually asked that but I thought about it. Personally, I would sit there and think about it.”
Rey Mysterio beat Eddie fair and square with the help of the latter’s wife, Vickie, and ended the storyline with the win.
