Drake Maverick lavished a ton of praise on NXT star Kyle O’Reilly

NXT TakeOver 31 features a huge clash between Finn Balor and Kyle O’Reilly. While Balor has won singles titles previously in WWE, this would be the first chance for O’Reilly to do the same.

The Undisputed Era member is mostly known for his work in tag team clashes. He has won the NXT Tag Team titles with Bobby Fish and the other members of UFC thrice.

The 33-year-old was also the ROH Champion at one point but he hasn’t been used in singles clashes a lot.

However, O’Reilly was the surprise winner of a Gauntlet match to determine Balor’s next rival. The 33-year-old has been praised by several stars leading up to the NXT TakeOver clash and Drake Maverick has done the same too.

While Maverick has fought on several promotions, he claimed that O’Reilly was on his bucket list and called him the best “sleeper” wrestler in the world.

Time for O’Reilly to shine?

Balor has been excellent since he returned to NXT from the WWE main brands. However, the Demon Prince faces a different test at TakeOver 31.

Many would have predicted Velveteen Dream or Adam Cole to get a shot at Balor’s gold. But, O’Reilly getting the shot is an interesting move from NXT.

The 33-year-old could spring a surprise for Balor and the Prince is respectful of his opponent. The pair met on NXT as Shawn Michaels moderated the debate.

Both stars highlighted why they would end that night as the champion and thankfully, a brawl did not break out between them.

Balor only recently won the title after defeating Cole, and it will be interesting to see if O’Reilly brings the gold back to the Undisputed Era after TakeOver 31.
