“Why aren’t they using you?” – Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton praised by Andrade despite WWE release

Andrade opened up on his WWE release but had some glowing praise from Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton

Former WWE star Andrade was speaking to Lucha Libre Online (h/t Fightful) as he shared several stories from his time with the promotion.

El Idolo was unhappy with his situation in the company and was finally released after he asked for it. The former NXT and US Champion is one of the most talented stars in wrestling but WWE just didn’t use him well.

Andrade was released by WWE (WWE)

His decision to leave wasn’t money based, or it seems, as he was making millions of dollars a year and Andrade left all that as he was released by the company:

“I had a great contract with WWE, a great contract. Three million per year. Several million dollars per year, a lot more than plenty of guys coming up from NXT. I heard about some of those contracts. I made a lot more than those guys.”

There is no confirmation of what the future holds for Andrade but a couple of top WWE stars couldn’t believe what El Idolo was going through.

Rising tensions in Zelina Vega’s stable (WWE)

Andrade was part of a faction with Zelina Vega and he opened up on facing Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton:

“When the pandemic started, they put me with Drew McIntyre. Drew was great with me and behaved well with me in NXT and on the main roster. We had the matches and a producer came to me and said, ‘Make sure Drew looks like a monster, because he’s the champ.’

“Drew came to me and told me to wrestle how I know to wrestle, saying that he doesn’t need me to make him look good, but to wrestle how I wrestle best.”

Randy Orton also does his best for Andrade

Orton might be The Viper but he knows the business extremely well. The Viper recently spoke about how he lauded those who helped him become one of the best in the ring and even he was praised by Andrade.

Orton was also confused why Andrade wasn’t being used in WWE:

“A lot of people treated me well, Drew too and Randy Orton. [Randy] would ask me, ‘Why aren’t they using you?’ I didn’t know what to say and didn’t know what was going on. After that, I made the decision [to leave].”

McIntyre has been excellent since returning to WWE and this is another story that highlights that.

The Fiend and Randy Orton in action on Raw (WWE)

Orton also has some great backstage stories and it is great to know that there were some who really cared for Andrade.

It will be interesting to see what is next for Andrade but he also spilled the beans on Charlotte Flair, his partner, being axed from WrestleMania.

There was some confusion about her being pregnant, but Flair cleared all the rumours regarding that too.
