Booker T claims this WrestleMania 37 moment left fans as shocked as Undertaker’s streak ending

Booker T mentions The Undertaker and his WrestleMania streak when talking about Drew McIntyre vs Bobby Lashley

Night one of WrestleMania 37 saw one of the biggest shocks of the entire event. Bobby Lashley took on Drew McIntyre for the WWE championship.

The belt was McIntyre’s before it was taken by The Miz and later, Lashley. The Scotsman had won it against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 in front of an empty crowd.

With fans returning to the arenas for the first time in over a year, many thought that the reason McIntyre lost the belt earlier was so he can have his ‘Mania moment last weekend.

But that was not to be, as The Almighty Era continued, just like Lashley said it would. The two battled in an 18+ minute marathon fight which saw McIntyre target Lashley’s left arm consistently.

That was to no avail as one successfully applied Hurt Lock was all it took for ‘The Chosen One’ to tap out.

And as shocking as that was for the fans, Booker T took it a step further by comparing it to ‘The Phenom’ losing his 21-0 streak at WrestleMania 30 against Lesnar.

Booker was on the latest episode of the Hall of Fame podcast and recalled seeing the fans’ shocked reactions up close.

“I saw it up close and personal. The fans were so shocked, literally, I thought somebody in the front was going to die, from shock… Everybody was shocked to the point that it was almost like when The Undertaker’s streak was broken. That’s the way it felt in the arena when Drew McIntyre did not break the Hurt Lock.”

It probably wasn’t that dramatic, Booker. But the fans were indeed shocked to a pretty big extent, especially by the manner of the defeat.

No one would have seen Lashley winning by The Hurt Lock and it was a pretty unexpected end to a pretty hard-fought, evenly-contested marathon fight.

And it seems that the Scotsman will have to wait for his ‘Mania moment until at least the next year.
