Drew McIntyre made a comeback to WWE in 2017 after three years out and has gone on to achieve great things

In an interview a few months back, Drew McIntyre revealed how his life was going downhill after his mother’s demise.

That affected his personal and professional life. And as a result, WWE had to let him go from the company in July 2014 after almost 7 years of having him on their books.

But the Scotsman made a triumphant return to his best, and even transcended his most optimistic fans’ expectations.

A few years at TNA, where he won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, and at PWG, saw WWE call him back. And on April 1, 2017, McIntyre was re-instated on NXT.

‘The Chosen One’ has now revealed who exactly got in touch with him to make sure that he re-joins the promotion after his exploits elsewhere.

Triple H made the call to get Drew McIntyre back on WWE

And it was Triple H, the founder of NXT, himself. McIntyre revealed this in a tweet where he thanked Hunter for promotion his book, ‘A Chosen Destination: My Story’, on social media.

His tweet read, “Thank you, @TripleH. It was your phone call that brought me back home……I’m still waiting on that point photo though…”

Needless to say, the decision to get the Scotsman back has been a success. And you wouldn’t have to look farther than his 2020 Royal Rumble win to see what a hit he is with the WWE Universe as well.

McIntyre now faces Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman to take back what he lost to Miz at Elimination Chamber 2021- the WWE championship.
