Drew McIntyre wants to take on Conor McGregor if he ever decides to join WWE
It’s wishful thinking, but then again, crazier things have happened on WWE. But recently, there has been a belief amongst fans that Conor McGregor could come to WWE.
This gained traction after the Irishman himself got in on the discussion, even exciting Triple H in the process.
And now, one of the biggest superstars in the promotion, Drew McIntyre, has talked of his desire to take on ‘The Notorious One’.
‘The Chosen One’ was talking to NewsNation (h/t WSPA) and he mentioned the reasons why he thinks he would want to fight McGregor.
“It seems like he’s winding down in UFC. He’s from my side of the world. He’s got a big mouth on him. He’s also quick with his hands. Realistically, he’s the size of my left calf so it may not be very fair.”
McIntyre seems to have a thing for feuding with Irish guys. First Sheamus, and now McGregor. But it’s clear that he is laying seeds for the future in case McGregor ever wants to come to WWE.
In that case, the Scotsman can tell WWE Creative that he has already talked about Conor in the past, so he is the best opponent for the former UFC champion.
But this is just speculation at this point. And McGregor would probably not leave UFC for a while, considering the lightweight division is just taking shape after Khabib Nurmagomedov’s retirement.
He is currently on track to take on Dustin Poirier in a trilogy fight. But the possibility of him coming back never dies out because of the precedents set by fighters like Cain Velasquez, Ronda Rousey, and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
And apart from the sheer excitement of seeing two brawlers from the English Isles fight it out inside the ring, the money McGregor would bring to WWE would be astronomical.
