Bobby Lashley made the news by winning the WWE Championship on Raw and former champion Drew McIntyre had a lot to say
This week’s WWE Raw certainly made the news thanks to Bobby Lashley finally capturing the WWE Championship.
The Miz tried to play a lot of games to avoid meeting Lashley in the ring, but Shane McMahon ensured the match took place.
Lashley celebrated wildly after the win as he finally won the top WWE title after 17 years in the business. However, Drew McIntyre was also on Raw as he shared his thoughts on the epic moment.
McIntyre was the champion before Lashley beat him up at Elimination Chamber 2021. This allowed The Miz to cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase to get the win.
However, McIntyre actually had some great words for Lashley while he was speaking on Raw Talk (h/t Wrestling Inc):
“He’s worked hard for it.
“The man is an absolute animal in every possible way, in the gym and ring. He’s earned this moment.”
WrestleMania 37 has to be the main target for McIntyre and he is yet to receive a rematch for the title he lost.
The Scot was open to facing Lashley at the biggest event of them all, however, Fastlane is one PPV before WrestleMania and there could be some shenanigans before that, especially from The Miz.
McIntyre also opened up on his plans for the future and was wanting to be part of Mania:
“There’s no way I’m not going to try and work myself into the main event of WrestleMania.”
He also served a warning to Lashley, who was in his first run as the WWE Champion:
“I’m just going to give a little piece of advice to Lashley: there’s a lot of pressure that comes with this. Lashley doesn’t have to worry about the physical aspect like The Miz, but he’s surrounded himself with a bunch of associates who might be jealous of him now. I found that out firsthand with Sheamus. So, that’s some free advice to you, Bobby.”
It is to be seen what happens next with the Hurt Business. All of the stars hold titles in the group and MVP has revitalised the fortunes of each star.
McIntyre also should still be in the title shot but it is to be seen if that happens for Fastlane or WrestleMania.
He fought Sheamus on this week’s show and it was another brutal affair. The Scot had been champion for a long time and a battle versus Lashley at Mania could be an incredible bout for the fans.
