Drew McIntyre’s rumoured opponent for WrestleMania 37 revealed as he fights on night one

Drew McIntyre might not be the champion but he is expected to be going to WrestleMania 37

Drew McIntyre was the WWE Champion before the Elimination Chamber debacle. The Scot won the Elimination Chamber match but was on the end of a brutal beating from Bobby Lashley.

This allowed The Miz to cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase and become a two-time WWE Champion.

However, there have been questions regarding the future of the title and also McIntyre for WrestleMania.

The Scot was absent from any talk or action on this week’s Raw, though he will be back next week.

This is perfect for him since The Miz and Bobby Lashley are to fight for the title. Lashley defeated Braun Strowman clean to get the chance and Billi Bhatti has opened up on what could be the plans for McIntyre.

He was speaking on the latest episode of The Dirty Sheets and brought up that Lashley’s plans was just put together.

While he discussed what WWE were doing with Roman Reigns, Cesaro and Daniel Bryan, he confirmed that McIntyre was going to feature at WrestleMania 37 (h/t Wrestling-Edge):

“The main event on night one is Drew vs Lashley.”

Bhatti confirmed that this would be for the title. However, he couldn’t confirm if Lashley would win it next week against The Miz or later:

“I don’t know if he’ll get it this week but basically, Lashley is what they’ve come up with for what Drew’s gonna do. We knew this a long time ago that he was winning-the plan was just drop it before and you’ll win it back at Tampa, right?

“I figured when Orton won it that was it. I think it was ‘we took it off you too soon, you’re still like the guy who’s available to do the most media and you’re the best at it.’”

The right time for Drew McIntyre to be champion?

McIntyre losing the title was big as he was dominant since winning it at WrestleMania 36. However, him losing it could be a ploy to give him his WrestleMania moment.

The Scot has been incredible in his return to WWE. However, he won the WWE title in an empty arena last year.

Fans could be back in the stadium for WrestleMania 37 and that would be the perfect time for McIntyre to get his title back.

It would provide him a perfect WrestleMania moment with at least a few thousand fans screaming and cheering him on.

Lashley vs McIntyre would be a great clash too. The All Mighty getting the WWE title would be great given his recent performances while McIntyre will be hungry to reclaim his gold.
