Former WWE champions Drew McIntyre and Sasha Banks voted as WWE 2K22 cover athletes in a fan poll
Being on the cover of a WWE game holds more significance for a wrestler than some might be led to believe.
It is an indication that they are the face of the company- that it is them who the fans want to see and it is their face that will, in the company’s opinion, make the most sales.
So, it is natural that the cover launches are a big deal. WWE 2K20’s cover had Roman Reigns and ‘The Man’ Becky Lynch on it.
But with the Irishwoman on a hiatus, it is highly unlikely she makes the cover this year. In light of this, WWEonFOX asked fans to vote for who they want on the cover of the 2022 edition of the game.
And in their own words, fans ‘overwhelmingly’ voted for Drew McIntyre as the male cover star and Sasha Banks as the female cover star.
Who will be on the cover of WWE 2K22?
‘The Chosen One’ reacted to the tweet with a simple emoji while Banks retweeted the original post. Both would be stoked to know they remain fan favourites.
But as stated in the images itself, these aren’t the actual covers of the game. That is yet to come out.
The teaser of the 2k22 game on the company’s own website heavily features Rey Mysterio. It could be possible that ‘The Master of the 619’ has one last hoorah on the main stage.
But it is likely that it will likely be two out of Reigns, McIntyre, Bianca Belair, or Banks. The 2k21 edition was not released by the company as they wanted to focus on making 2k22 a better game.
It is probably because 2k20 was one of the worst-rated games by critics in recent history. And despite that, it is still a tactic used to great effect by many other developers.
Even Konami did not release the 2021 version of their game and just provided a season update to make the 2022 edition a gamechanger. So, we can expect big things from the 2K22 game this year it seems.
