Drew McIntyre and Sheamus would have squared off at WrestleMania 37

Drew McIntyre and Sheamus faced off in a dog fight at WWE FastLane 2021.

A near-20 minute tussle saw McIntyre win the match by pinfall. In a recent interview with BT Sport, both McIntyre and Sheamus spoke revealed that the match should have taken place at WrestleMania 37, instead of FastLane 2021.

While Sheamus did all he could to make the match happen at WrestleMania 37, McIntyre also asserted that the FastLane classic was “WrestleMania worthy”.

However, McIntyre said that they could run it back anytime in future WrestleManias.

Sheamus was quoted as saying:

“Yeah, we really were hoping this was gonna be WrestleMania. That’s where we felt the feud should basically climax, should come to an end at WrestleMania. I fought as hard as I could; we both did, to make that happen, but you do what you can do, you know? Make it the best way you can.” [via Wrestling Inc]

McIntyre then continued:

“If you see the pre-match video [for our Fastlane match], you’ll see that this was really WrestleMania worthy. Just the story, the real story we have… and we can always come back around maybe at next year’s WrestleMania. When we get fans back, it [the storyline] will be new again. But it was certainly a disappointment, we’re gonna have to do it again.” [via Wrestling Inc]

There is one good thing about the fact that the match did not take place at WrestleMania 37 – fans wouldn’t have been there to witness the classic.

Now that the fans are back in the stadium, a future clash between the two would be electrifying.

Drew McIntyre and Sheamus have important matches coming up at SummerSlam 2021

Drew McIntyre and Sheamus have an important weekend coming up at SummerSlam 2021.

McIntyre will be taking on Jinder Mahal in a singles match. ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ would have an added advantage since Veer and Shanky have been banned from ringside.

Sheamus, on the other hand, will be defending his United States Championship against Damian Priest. The pair have a bit of bad blood going on, after Priest executed Sheamus’ brogue kick recently.
