The Scottish Warrior paid a surprise visit to the Special Olympics Tennessee athletes at the Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville this week.
Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre recently shared a tweet about the upcoming 2022 Special Olympics USA Games.
Drew has been the Champion Ambassador for the event since 2021. He also started the School of Strength program for athletes to work out and train at home.
During the visit, Drew said that he was inspired more than he thought he would be after meeting the special athletes. He also added that he was part of the SummerSlam media tour and expressed his excitement at being involved with the Special Olympics.
“I knew I’d be inspired, but I didn’t realize the level that we’d get to and just how much I really want to do and how much I really want to be involved. I couldn’t have anticipated even close. Like when I heard today, technically I’m going to SummerSlam media tour – we’re got a big show in Nissan Stadium on July 30th. When I heard Special Olympics was involved today in person I got giddy for a second and was like ‘oh that’s great’ I get to go along and that’s something that’s truly a joy in my life right now.”
As per reports, Drew McIntyre is all set to feud with the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns over the next few months and it will continue even after WWE’s UK live events.
Drew is currently in a feud with Sami Zayn. Sami has faced Drew in the last couple of episodes of SmackDown. However, the former Intercontinental Champion left the match mid-way on both occasions handing McIntyre count out victories.
This week on WWE’s blue brand, Drew will face Sami in a Lumberjack match. Drew faced Reigns last week in a WWE live event in a losing cause.
