Colby Covington is the latest non-wrestler to call out Drew McIntyre
WWE Champion Drew McIntyre seems to have a target on his back after his success. The Scot won the title from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 and has defended it against Seth Rollins and The Big Show.
However, many stars from outside the WWE are also keen on taking a shot at McIntyre. The latest seems to be UFC Welterweight star Colby Covington. The American responded to a challenge from McIntyre and wanted an unsanctioned fight with the Scot.
McIntyre wasn’t taking this lightly. The champion decided to share one particular photo of Covington which wasn’t all that flattering.
Covington lost his bout for the UFC Welterweight title against Kamaru Usman, and even got a broken jaw during this.
The photo McIntyre share was of Covington on the floor with a bloodied face as Usman went for the kill.
McIntyre even took a shot at Covington’s geography skills and tweeted:
““King of the UFC” I doubt you can even point to Scotland on a map”
Non-wrestlers facing WWE stars isn’t a new concept with the likes of Mike Tyson, Ronda Rousey and countless others trying their luck in the ring.
Tyson Fury was the latest one who got a win over Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel. The boxer knocked out the Monster and has also challenged McIntyre.
That would be an interesting fight, but McIntyre always seems to have the answer for his rivals. This take on Covington was excellent, but the Scot has another rival to worry about.
Bobby Lashley, a rejuvenated one thanks to MVP, has challenged McIntyre. The Scot accepted the challenge from the All Mighty and it will be interesting to see how it goes.
Lashley has a lot of MMA experience too, and he could pose a threat to the Scot. Covington might keep an eye on that to pick up some pointers, especially since he isn’t in the running for the UFC title at the moment.
