Drew McIntyre is one of the top Superstars currently signed to WWE. He plies his trade on the SmackDown brand and he has already won the WWE Championship on two different occasions.
The Scottish Warrior has been involved in a feud with Roman Reigns of late. Recently at WrestleMania Backlash, McIntyre teamed up with the Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro to take on the team of Roman Reigns and the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Usos. However, it was the heels who won that match.
The WWE European Championship has discontinued almost 20 years ago. However, McIntyre wants the title to be brought back. McIntyre explained that he was fond of the title since his childhood days. McIntyre also suggested that the belt could be brought back once so that he could win it and then it can retire once again.
In an interview with TalkSport, McIntyre spoke about his love for the erstwhile title.
“Yes! I just want it,” McIntyre admitted. “Because when I was a kid and I saw it I was like ‘ah man, I want to be European champion.’ And now I can’t because it doesn’t exist right now. I don’t like too many titles and there are a lot right now, but I just wanted it when I was a kid.
“So just bring it back, let me win it and then I’ll retire it. You never want too many titles in the company because then it’s not as special. I think where we’re at right now is good, but give ol’ Drew the European title for young Drew.”
The WWE European Championship was officially retired in July 2022, when Rob Van Dam had unified the European and Intercontinental Championships.
What is next for Drew McIntyre?
Drew McIntyre has already begun a feud with Roman Reigns for the latter’s WWE Universal Championship.
WWE will be hosting a house show on Sunday called WWE Sunday Stunner. Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre will lock horns as the Scottish Warrior will look to win the WWE Universal Championship.
Titles, especially such major ones, rarely change hands on the house shows but this will not be the last time that these two will brawl over the WWE Universal Championship.
As per reports, McIntyre and Reigns will be feuding for a couple of months at least over the title and this is certainly great news for the WWE Universe as they are two of the best wrestlers in WWE at the moment.
