Edge believed in Roman Reigns rivalry despite Big Dog being shackled by WWE

Edge spoke highly about Roman Reigns despite some reservations during his early WWE career

The 2021 Royal Rumble winner, Edge, was speaking on The Steve Dangle Podcast and brought up his belief that Roman Reigns was going to be a top star.

Reigns has always been backed by WWE over the years, however, they seem to have played it safe with him.

The Big Dog couldn’t get over with most of the fans during his run as a face. Reigns was great in his rivalries with many top stars but he always seemed to be missing something.

However, that changed when Reigns returned from a long hiatus after the coronavirus outbreak. The WWE Universe saw a heel version of Reigns and this is possibly his best work in the business.

Paul Heyman has helped that a lot and Edge spoke about this version of Reigns. The Canadian believed that Reigns was always going to be a top star but it seemed that WWE was shackling him.

Edge was also certain that he could do some great matches with The Tribal Chief (h/t Cultaholic):

“Roman Reigns. For years, I’d been saying – especially when Jay and I had our podcast – he was getting all kinds of flak and I never understood it, because I know how talented that guy is.

“I could see the guy that was in there that just wasn’t allowed to come out, character-wise. He was a guy that I always saw and thought, ‘Man, what I could do with that guy,'”

Edge vs Roman Reigns could be set for WrestleMania 37

Edge has the opportunity to face any of the top champions at WrestleMania 37 thanks to his Royal Rumble win.

The Rated-R Superstar has featured on all three major brands of WWE. However, he is yet to make a decision on who he faces.

Edge vs Reigns is the right fight to make given that one is a face and the other is a heel. WWE also seems to be moving in that direction but they won’t confirm their plans until after the Elimination Chamber.

Edge doesn’t have a match for that PPV while Reigns will be defending his title on the night. It will be interesting to see who The Tribal Chief faces since his rival will have to come up from an Elimination Chamber match on the same night.
