Paige speaks of her chances to make her WWE return in the future
It has been close to 4 years since Paige last fought inside the WWE ring. The Anti-Diva was injured in a mishap on a WWE roadshow in 2017.
She did fight on RAW a few times after that but it wasn’t the same for her and she had to announce her retirement from wrestling in April 2018.
Paige made several appearances on the show after that, but none inside the ring. The 28-year-old has been in the commentary booth at times and even served a small stint as general manager on the show.
But she says that she wants to come back. Paige was talking to Renee Paquette on her podcast, Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette (h/t ITR Wrestling), and revealed that she will get her neck checked soon as she dreams of a possible return on the show; even if the possibility of that scares her.
“I’m still going to get my neck checked soon, just to see the progress of it, and hopefully it looks good. I’m not saying in any way, shape or form that they will clear me to come back, it’s just a check-up. I am intrigued to know how my neck had progressed. It honestly scares me to come back to wrestling, because I want to and I would come back tomorrow. But I’m always going to have that in the back of my head like, what if? What if something does happen and I do get paralysed. It does scare me. I know I’m not going to be fully ready mentally to come back, but watch out world. When I am ready to come back, everyone’s in trouble.”
Paige reveals who she would want to face on her WWE return
And before that, she mentioned that she would face Beth Phoenix if she had the chance to on her return.
She also highlighted how happy and inspired she is seeing Edge return from a similar injury as hers’ and how the couple has stayed in touch with English-born WWE superstar.
“It feels really good to see Edge come back because we have very similar injuries. He and Beth Phoenix have both reached out to me, which I would love if I ever come back to face Phoenix. I feel like she would make me look like a million dollars but she would protect me at all costs. I’ve never been in the ring with her before and I feel like if anyone, even though I love The Bellas, I love the four Horsewomen, I love all these ladies, I’m just so in awe of what Beth can do. I feel like she can take me to the next level. Once I saw it, I got chills when I saw Bryan and Edge talking together backstage. I’m like damn it’s so inspiring, it makes me feel good.”
It is obvious that fans would love to see Paige come back if she could, but her comments make it seem like it’s unlikely. As for Beth Phoenix, she is now a retired, WWE Hall of Famer, and has been busy with a documentary on her wrestling career.
Her husband Edge, on the other hand, has a date with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37 for the WWE Universal title.
