Edge opens up about the prospect of facing Daniel Bryan at WWE WrestleMania
In an exclusive interview with the WWE Network, WWE Superstar Edge has opened up about the prospect of him taking on Daniel Bryan at WWE WrestleMania 37 next month.
The Showcase of the Immortals goes down next month at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Edge, who won the 2021 WWE Royal Rumble, is set for a shot at the Universal Championship at WrestleMania.
While Roman Reigns is the current Universal Champion, that could potentially change as ‘The Head of the Table’ is set to take on Daniel Bryan in a title match at the WWE Fastlane PPV this Sunday.
Should Bryan prevail against ‘The Tribal Chief’, he will set up a date with Edge at WrestleMania next month.
Edge the Special Enforcer for Reigns vs Bryan at Fastlane
Edge finds himself in the middle of Reigns’ fight with Bryan as he will now be the Special Enforcer for their bout at Fastlane. This came about after the Rated-R Superstar defeated Jey Uso in what was his first match on SmackDown in over 11 years this Friday.
In what was a hard-hitting main event, Uso constantly targeted Edge’s ribs and midsection but Edge picked up the win after hitting The Tribal Chief’s Right Hand Man with a powerful spear.
Edge’s joy over the victory was shortlived though, as Reigns attacked him from behind hitting the Ultimate Opportunist with a spear of his own. The Universal Champion then laid out Bryan with a spear as well as SmackDown went off air.
Edge addresses the possibility of facing Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania
Speaking after the show closed out, Edge insisted that he respected Daniel Bryan and was confident that the pair would put up a brilliant show if they were to come face-to-face at WrestleMania.
“I respect Daniel Bryan, I respect his ability, I respect him as a man. He deserves a fair shake and if I were to face him at WrestleMania, we would tear the house down.”
Edge also insisted that he will do everything to keep the fight between Reigns and Bryan fair at Fastlane.
“We’re at this point now. So, I can’t go back, I can’t try and change anything, we are where we are now. So, all I can do, as a man is make sure this goes down in the middle and he gets a fair shot, he gets a fair shake. Because I think he would do that for me. It’s not the way the old Edge would’ve looked at things. But that’s where I’m at.”
Given the way WWE has been pushing Reigns, it is hard to see him being toppled by Bryan at Fastlane, meaning the possibility of Edge vs The American Dragon at WrestleMania 37 is faint.
Nonetheless, there have been seeds sown over a possible rivalry down the line. So, we can expect Edge vs Daniel Bryan to happen some time in the near future.
