WWE Hall of Famer Edge in plans to return at Summerslam 2021
Former WWE Champion Edge is looking good to return at this year’s Summerslam according to various reports.
The Rated-R Superstar has not featured since his appearance at WrestleMania 37, losing to Roman Reigns in a Triple Threat Match. WWE recently announced that the 11-time World Champion will be returning on the July 16th episode of SmackDown.
“Reported on @theLTGpodcast Patreon this week Edge is currently penciled in for the SummerSlam card as a babyface on the Smackdown side. Seems to give credence to that.” (h/t Jon Alba)
There were rumours that Edge will resume his rivalry with Roman Reigns, but that idea looks unlikely. John Cena is most likely going to face Reigns at the “biggest event of the summer.”
Edge earlier signed a limited deal with a guarantee of five appearances in a year. He is well received as a face since his return to WWE.
Edge made a shocking comeback at the 2020 Royal Rumble. Fans all over the world erupted once his theme song played to welcome back the retired Superstar. Since then, he has gone on to make an impressive return into WWE.
In 2021, Edge won the Royal Rumble to everyone’s surprise. He was involved in a bitter feud with Randy Orton, which went extreme and over the limit. Edge chose to face Roman Reigns, after winning the Royal Rumble and wanted to win the WWE Universal Championship.
He is also an inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012. After his return, fans have wanted to see more from the Rated R superstar. A return at Summerslam will be the perfect occasion, with a full capacity Allegiant Stadium.
