Edge sorry for starting iconic Kurt Angle ‘You Suck’ chants

Taking to social media, WWE Hall of Famer Edge has issued an apology to Kurt Angle for having played a part in the iconic “You Suck” chants.

Any WWE fan who watched the product during the Attitude Era would be familiar with “You Suck” chants that were screamed during his entrance along with his theme. While starting out as an insult to Angle, the chant went on to attain cult status among the fans.

This past Sunday, Kurt Angle took a trip down memory lane to reveal how it all began.

He posted a clip from SmackDown back in 2002 where the Olympic Gold Medalist was to unveil a new shirt with Edge alongside him. However, the “Ultimate Opportunist” ended up screwing over Angle replacing the shirt with a different one that had “You Suck” written on it.

Angle wrote on Instagram, “How the “You Suck” chants started. Thanks a lot Edge 👎#itstrue.”

Responding to the post, Edge commented:

“Sorry Kurt. Love you. Makes you feel any better I’m wearing pleather pants and a wet spandex button up.”

Following that segment, Angle went on to defeat Edge at Backlash 2002 PPV.

Both Kurt Angle and Edge went on to have legendary careers in WWE. The ‘American Hero’ returned to WWE in 2017 as a Hall of Famer and went on to revive his in-ring career as well, before calling time in 2019, at WrestleMania 35.

Edge, meanwhile, made a sensational return last year after having had to retire due to a career-ending injury.
