WrestleMania Backlash is the next PPV from WWE and that could see Edge make his dreams come true

WWE announced their next PPV with WrestleMania Backlash being confirmed for 16 May 2021.

This was confirmed during WrestleMania 37’s second night and this could have some major repercussions, especially for the title scene.

Edge and Daniel Bryan were keen on winning the Universal title from Roman Reigns. However, that was not to be in the main event of night two.

Jey Uso played a huge role in the triple threat clash as he attacked Edge and Bryan. Edge was able to overcome the odds and hit a concerto to Bryan but Reigns did that to the Royal Rumble winner and kept hold of the gold.

That would have been it for his title chances. Edge lost his shot at the gold and would be out of the title scene.

However, the name of the upcoming PPV provides a glimmer of what is set to happens at Backlash.

WWE to run several rematches at Backlash?

The name says it all. WrestleMania Backlash seems to be a continuation of the WrestleMania card or at least some of the storylines.

While fans were unhappy at this as they wanted WWE to push on from some of the storylines, it also provides a chance for Edge or even Drew McIntyre to exact some form of revenge.

McIntyre also lost his chance at beating Bobby Lashley thanks to a distraction from MVP. Further, McIntyre didn’t tap out to Lashley but he passed out from the Hurt Lock.

Backlash would provide WWE with the perfect stage to re-run some of the rivalries. Randy Orton and The Fiend could go at it again, especially after Alexa Bliss’ turn.

Further, some rivalries can grow like the one between Asuka and Rhea Ripley. That was set up all of a sudden and Ripley winning the title should see Asuka get a chance to reclaim it.

WWE saw several title chances at Mania. Sasha Banks, Matt Riddle, The New Day and Big E all lost their titles.

Backlash seems to be ideal to run some of these storylines and maybe we could see Edge get the better of Reigns.

The Rated-R Superstar was close at WrestleMania 37 but his moment could come in the next PPV.
