Ember Moon has her say on the upcoming title bouts at NXT
There are two massive high-voltage clashes lined up for the NXT event next week. Raquel Gonzalez will be defending her NXT Women’s Title against Mercedes Martinez on the 11th of May.
And the other fight is the NXT Cruiserweight Championship bout between Kushida and Santos Escobar.
Martinez’s recent win over Dakota Kai in a singles match, set her up for the finals against Gonzalez.
Kushida and Escobar, on the other hand, will be fighting it out in a rematch; after Escobar’s shock loss to Kushida which saw him concede his Cruiserweight title.
NXT Women’s wrestler Ember Moon made her opinion known on the upcoming championship fights. Quote tweeting, WWE NXT General Manager, William Regal’s tweet asking for fan’s opinion on the upcoming crunch matches, Ember Moon picked the winners.
She felt Gonzalez would go on to successfully defend her title, whereas Escobar will get his hands back on the Cruiserweight title.
Moon’s tweet read:
“.@WWENXT Damn I am thinking Big tex @RaquelWWE and because of his goons @EscobarWWE.”
Kushida’s title win over Santos Escobar was quite a surprise
Not many expected Kushida to spring a surprise on Santos Escobar. Escobar was coming off a confidence-boosting victory over Jordan Devlin, which gave rise to a laidback attitude when he defended his title.
However, Escobar did put on a good fight, even as both the fighters went back and forth, before Kushida scored a three-count to win his first ever belt in WWE.
The crowd were left shell-shocked following the surprise title challenge, but they did seem to like it.
Kushida will be hoping that his Cruiserweight belt stays with him for quite a while, when he takes on Escobar tomorrow.
