Eric Bischoff has been involved in the wrestling industry for a long time. He has seen the development of WWE from close quarters and now he gives his opinion regarding the competition AEW is providing

AEW started in 2019 and since then become quite popular. They have earned the love of many fans who were tired of WWE’s monopoly at the top. While WWE is still ruling the roost, AEW manages to beat their shows as per ratings every now and then.

The legendary manager worked for almost three decades across various promotions

Many talented wrestlers who were being underutilized in WWE got handsome offers from AEW and became big names in the company. This earned AEW a lot of praise and fans as well.

The criticism that AEW has to cope with all the time is their regular referencing of WWE. They have taken shots at WWE quite frequently in their 3 years of existence.

The interview:

Eric Bischoff on the 83 Weeks Podcast talked about AEW President Tony Khan’s role behind WWE receiving criticism from fans and superstars alike.

“So if you’re a loyal AEW fan and you want to be on that train, you’re going to do what Tony Khan does, and what a lot of top talent do on a weekly basis on social media as well as on their TV show, and you will be taking shots and trying to bury the competition. That’s where it comes from, and people want to pile on and then they argue about it on social media. That’s where it comes from, in my opinion.

People want to see WWE get their comeuppance. Talent within AEW, including Tony Khan, are constantly taking shots at WWE in order to build more loyalty within their own brand. Again, not a criticism, but it is simply a cold hard fact, that’s where it comes from.”

Chavo Guerrero gives his opinion regarding Eric Bischoff and Tony Khan’s fallout

Chavo Guerrero is a former ECW Champion, two-time TNA World Tag Team Champion (w/Hernandez), four-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion, and two-time WWE Tag Team Champion (w/Eddie Guerrero).

Chavo

Speaking to The Wrestling Inc, Chavo discussed his perspective on Eric Bischoff and Tony Khan’s war of words in public.

“You know, that’s the wrestling business. Eric has his way of doing things, and he’s outspoken, he doesn’t pull punches. I think when you’re that level, you’re not going to pull a lot of punches. But, at the same time, you’re going to be respected. You may not be liked, they may not agree with you, but they’re going to respect you. You see Eric still goes back to WWE every now and then, he was the head of Raw or SmackDown or whatever he was. So you’ve got respect in there because he’s been places. If you listen to Eric talk, man, the guy is so knowledgeable about the way analytics work.”
