During the latest edition of his “83 Weeks” podcast, Eric Bischoff commented on the eighteen WWE releases that took place last week. The former WCW Executive Vice President revealed Ember Moon‘s release surprised him.
“I was really disappointed. A couple of them stuck out to me, in particular, Ember Moon was a surprise to me.”
“Only because I worked with Ember for a very brief time back in WWE for an even briefer time. Really really professional, talented, committed individual.”
The WWE Hall of Famer also said the release of Harry Smith was also shocking for him.
On November 4, 2021, Ember Moon was released from her WWE contract. Moon last competed on the October 5 episode of NXT 2.0 in a match against Mandy Rose.
Ember Moon was signed by WWE in 2015 and made her NXT debut under the name of Adrienne Reese. She debuted her new ring name in June of 2016.
Just over one year later, Moon won the vacant NXT Women’s Championship. She held the title from November 2017 all the way until her main roster call up following NXT TakeOver: New Orleans in April 2018.
In two years on Raw and SmackDown she didn’t taste any success at championship victories, but was a regular feature in the women’s division, doing everything from the Royal Rumble to an analyst role on WWE Backstage.
Moon was among multiple releases made by WWE on Thursday. After her release, Moon reacted on Twitter:
