WWE NJPW partnership – Everything we know so far

Published by

Talks of a partnership between the WWE and NJPW have been doing the rounds of late

New Japan Pro-Wrestling, the Japanese Professional Wrestling promotion is in talks about becoming the exclusive partner of the WWE. The Tokyo based promotion is already in partnership with AEW and Impact Wrestling.

The deal would see several WWE stars move to Japan to perform and stars from NJPW perform in the WWE, just like the AEW have sent stars like Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho as a part of their deal.

The talks are still ongoing, with the center of discussion being Daniel Bryan “being able to work some New Japan dates.”

WWE President Nick Khan has been trying to make this exclusive deal come to fruition. The deal would also help NJPW grow their brand since WWE still remains the apex pro-wrestling promotion in the world.

As of now the talks of a collaboration have been rife, but there has not been any confirmation of the partnership being signed, and it looks like the AEW and Impact Wrestling would have their deals running for a while.

The Fulham FC co-owner also divulged that he had a lot of plans with the Japanese promotion, and has had a busy fortnight with them.

Here is what Tony Khan had to say:

“I read in the Observer today that New Japan Pro Wrestling apparently has had talks with WWE’s President Nick Khan. Well, Nick, I just have to say if you’ve been talking to New Japan for two months, you’ve gotten a lot done. Just in the last two weeks, I’ve had Yuji Nagata, Ren Narita, and Rocky Romero on AEW. I’ve reunited Roppongi Vice, I’ve had the New Japan IWGP US Champion Jon Moxley defend the title successfully on our show, retaining it. And I have future plans with New Japan Pro Wrestling for the US Title. So you must’ve really gotten a lot done in the two months, Nick.

Taking shots at Nick, Tony said:

“In fact, I think there is room for only room for one Khan in the wrestling business, Nick. And — it’s me, it’s Tony Khan. It’s not some con man from Connecticut. Have a fun show tonight. See you on Dynamite.”

Right now, it looks like the AEW are still going strong with their NJPW deal, and it might take a while before the WWE become the exclusive partner of the Japan based promotion.
