New Superstar Trey Baxter made his debut on WWE NXT recently
Trey Baxter (known as Blake Christian) finally made his debut and immediately challenged for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship against Kushida.
Baxter is only 24 years old and has wrestled in PWG, GCW, and NJPW. He began wrestling with SWAG Wrestling in 2017 and has become one of the upcoming stars in WWE.
The 24-year-old has failed to win a singles title on the independent circuit. Baxter was signed in the February class of the WWE Performance center and included several top recruits like – Carmelo Hayes, Franky Monet, Million Dollar Champion LA Knight, Parker Bordeaux, Bronson Rechsteiner, Zayda Ramier, Zoey Stark, Gigi Dolin, Asher Hale.
He has also appeared on IMPACT Wrestling and NJPW in this calendar year. His biggest match came in a Title vs. Career Match against then-GCW World Champion Rickey Shane Page at GCW Fight Forever.
Baxter introduced himself to the WWE Universe with a combination of unique moves and skills that gave him the upper edge early on.
Kushida struck back and took control of the match with a wide array of moves. Baxter also dropped a running Spanish Fly and a springboard 450 Splash. Kushida finally outwits his opponent with a Hoverboard Lock to make Baxter tap out.
Kyle O’Reilly came to the ring and challenged Kushida for a WWE NXT Cruiserweight Championship match next week. The battle between the two will be a blockbuster match-up.
Baxter is going to be an integral part of the Cruiserweight division. He also brings a vast array of expertise at a young age. It will be interesting to see what the WWE creative team has up in store for him during this period in NXT.
Baxter needs to continue his fine form after a sizzling debut that has ignited his career. He will be hoping to use his high-flying arsenal against the rest of the division.
