AEW star Evil Uno reveals approach to sign deal with rival promotion WWE
The Dark Order member Evil Uno has revealed that Vince McMahon offered him a tryout with WWE after signing with AEW.
Evil Uno has been in the wrestling business for years and now is a welcome addition to new promotion AEW. But, he reveals that he was offered a chance at the WWE Performance Center after becoming an AEW star. While speaking on Talk is Jericho, he says: (h/t Wrestling Inc)
“Surprisingly enough, the only tryout offer I got was once I was offered a contract here. “I never seeked for it either. In my first, I’d say nine years, I just thought it was an impossible feat because I wasn’t ginormous. I’m a little masked guy who’s a video game character, and I’m from Canada. So in my mind, I was like, that’s not even my goal because I had instilled in my brain as a kid that I’m a kid and I can’t get there.”
The Dark Order is one of the biggest factions in AEW, despite the real-life passing of leader Brodie Lee. Uno is an integral part of the success of the company with his vast experience and stature that he brings to the company.
However, WWE have tried to sign AEW stars in the past after they joined the company. This isn’t the first such story and probably won’t be the last either.
Uno also encountered WWE Superstars Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in his young days. He reveals that Owens was the first proper opponent in his wrestling career. He befriended Zayn at an independent shows and met frequently on different promotions over the years. The trio belonged to the province of Quebec. He learnt to ply his trade at Jacques Rougeau’s school.
Zayn and Owens are feuding on WWE SmackDown with Commander Azeez and Apollo Crews. The duo have fought various marathon matches in the past and continue to achieve success at the highest level together.
