Billie Kay wants to team up with Sonya Deville on her WWE return

WWE SmackDown superstar Sonya Deville made a return to WWE for the first time in more than 4 months.

She last appeared on WWE on 23rd August in SummerSlam 2020. At the event, she was written out of the storyline after a ‘loser leaves WWE match’ against her friend Mandy Rose, where she lost.

However, Deville is now back with the Blue Brand as she appeared on the 1st January episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

She appears backstage on the show where the commentary team of Corey Graves and Michael Cole announce that Deville is re-instated in the main roster.

And now, former IIconics member Billie Kay, who won the Women’s tag team title with Peyton Royce at WrestleMania 35, wants to team up with the returning Deville.

Kay also welcomed her back in the tweet which can be seen below:

Why did Sonya Deville, who made her return this week, leave WWE?

Deville, whose real name is Daria Berenato, was involved in a harrowing incident in August just a week before SummerSlam 2020.

There was an attempt to kidnap Berenato on August 16th by a stalker. She managed to escape captivity and seek Rose’s help to call the police.

The stalker, named Phillip A. Thomas, earlier harassed her on social media and was obsessed with the SmackDown superstar.

The court case that followed resulted in an initial restraining order. Moreover, the ‘Hari vs. Hair’ match at SummerSlam against Mandy Rose was changed to ‘loser leaves WWE’.

This was done because lawyers thought it would be inappropriate of her to show up to court with a shaved head. Also, it gave WWE a convenient way to give Deville some much needed time off without attracting a lot of attention.
