Booker T shocked at the release of Fandango along with 13 wrestlers in WWE
WWE legend Booker T has opened up about the release of 13 wrestlers, including Fandango and a chunk of the Cruiserweight division.
The other wrestlers include Killian Dain, The Bollywood Boyz (Sunil Singh, Samir Singh), Marina Shafir, Arturo Ruas, Curt Stallion, Fandango, Tyler Breeze, Ever-Rise (Chase Parker, Matt Martel), Tony Nese, Ariya Daivari and August Gray.
Fandango impressed in his initial days, but fizzled out slowly which led to his release. Speaking on his “Hall of Fame” podcast, he said: (h/t Wrestling Inc)
“Fandango is another name that stands out. He got a win over Chris Jericho. Let me tell you something man, Fandango was a gimmick that was tailor made to get over. You should be able to take that gimmick and run it to the moon if you really are serious about the gimmick.”
Fandango was part of The Fashion Police with Tyler Breeze, but they eventually split up leading to no proper bookings for the duo. Booker T continued by saying:
“I do remember when Fandango first got the gimmick and I remember him not being that good of a dancer. Some people may not even think it’s true but I said to him that he should go and be the best dancer you can possibly be to make this thing really really something special.”
Fandango is now set to weigh his options after his long association with WWE. He was a former Tag Team Champion with Tyler Breeze. Fandango’s highlight would definitely be the win over legend Chris Jericho at WrestleMania.
The main option would be to follow the mass exodus into AEW and rebuild his character. His talent showed inside the ring but lacked the potential. His performances will have to be impressive consistently to claim a stake at the top.
