WWE 2K22 is on the way after 2K games played a reveal trailer at WrestleMania 37
WWE WrestleMania 37 was the perfect place to make some big announcements and 2K games used that to share a teaser of their new game.
2K games posted a reveal of their upcoming WWE 2K22 game. This would be the first 2K WWE game since the disastrous 2K20. That game was riddled with bugs and messes and it was panned by critics right from the day of release.
Even several patches weren’t able to fix the plethora of issues and 2K games was lambasted for pushing out such a product.
The producers seemed to have learned from their mistakes and decided to cancel 2K21. WWE has one game coming out in the 2K series every year but 2K decided to work on their product, especially with the next gen consoles out.
The reveal featured a teaser of Rey Mysterio and the high flyer did look pretty good. It also had Mysterio hitting his finisher, the 619 to Cesaro and it did look much better than the 2K20 version.
While the game is still in its early build and not many details have been shared, this does look like a better job of the wrestler models than the previous iteration.
WWE did release a game in between all this with Battlegrounds coming out, but that was a more arcadey experience compared to the sim-like 2K22 series.
This is a great chance for 2K games to make a mark in the next gen wars. AEW is also coming out with a few games and their main game is expected to be a fun outing akin to WWE: Here comes the pain.
These are interesting times for games but not many were impressed with what 2K showcased. Many panned the reveal and here are some of their reactions from social media:
